This is the one hundredth issue of the “Oily Rag” and I hope that it reflects on how our club has gone from strength to strength over the years. Membership has grown and grown and we now have two operative Railway Tracks where we can cater for locomotives in the three different most popular gauges. However, I guess we are probably similar to most Model Engineering Societies in that we only have a small nucleus of members who will actually get involved in running and organising our Club and this really is quite disappointing. I think that several of the present Committee feel that they have done their bit and that it is time for someone else to have a go. This year, we have been unable to find an Events Officer - or a new Exhibition Manager and the Chairman has elaborated on this in his Notes. It will not be many more months before the next A.G.M. comes along and please think seriously about putting yourself forward to take on one of the committee roles and help share the load. Very sadly, none of the early issues of the “Oily Rag” have survived in our archives. If any members still has any of these tucked away and would be willing to part with them, then I should be very glad to have them to place with our old records.
