With winter now behind us and the arrival of Spring, we can look forward to another season of running our locomotives on our two Railways. We do also obtain great pleasure in running our Locomotives and Traction Engines at other Clubs, Traction Engine Rallies and Steam Festivals and it was obvious to see that this same pleasure was very apparent in our visitors when owners of similar engines brought them and ran them at our recent Exhibition.

Perhaps the time is not too far off when we will be able to organise an Open Day at Creech and we can invite other Clubs to visit us there, run their locomotives on our track and their Traction Engines around the field as there is so much scope there for such an event.

Really, we do need to finish the track first of all so that visitors can have a worthwhile run. It is sometimes said that for a Club of our size, we have a pitifully small number of members who actually support the construction of the Railway and it really would be gratifying if a few more of the able-bodied turned up on a Sunday to help get the track extension completed. The two points to be installed for us to “strike off” into the country will be completed very shortly and then it should be just a case of plain sailing. We anticipate minimal earthworks now and enquiries are being made to get a JCB in to do any final digging and levelling that may be necessary.

So, even if you are not a Railway Fan, but if you are fit, then please do come along as we have a great deal of fun and the friendship and fellowship is beyond price!

Tony
