Some members may not know about the wonderful second hand Tool Shop, “The Tool Box” at Colyton which can be a real paradise for Model Engineers! Only about half an hour’s drive from Taunton, “The Tool Box” is halfway between Colyton town centre and the tramway terminus, beside the River Coly. There, proprietor David Fouracre sells good used hand and light machine tools, as well as dispensing robust insults to the editor of this journal. The shop may not be as large as nearby Axminster Power Tools (another reason to visit the area), but the key factor is that the equipment is predominantly used. David buys his stock almost exclusively from private sources, and doesn’t attend auctions, where prices for choice items can reach the stratosphere. Instead he aims to pay a fair price for equipment and offer customers real quality and value. Much time is spent restoring and renovating items that still have much life left in them, so that potential buyers can have confidence in anything purchased. In particular electrical systems are comprehensively checked, tested and rewired where necessary. In addition to the tools and machinery, David is one of only two commercial UK sources of back-issues of the most popular model engineering magazines, and also stocks a regularly-changing range of new and used books about all aspects of engineering. If you fancy a trip to visit “The Tool Box” either give David a ring for instructions (01297 552868) or visit his web site. If you have items to sell you can be assured of a fair price, but do phone David before bringing such items to the shop. ***** |
