Club Drawings for Sale

Welcome to Taunton Model Engineers in the heart of beautiful Somerset!

Our club was formed in 1946 and is continuing to grow with 132 members at present. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Model Engineering whether it be Locomotives, Traction Engines, Stationary Steam, Hot Air Engines, I/C Engines, Toolmaking, Clockmaking or any related subject.

Where to find us

Our autumn, winter and spring meetings are held at Stoke St Mary village hall, Stoke St Mary, near Taunton. We meet here on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday in the month from 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm. We have various speakers and slide presentations, and evenings where we exhibit our own models and share our workshop experiences. During the summer we hold more outdoor activities and unless otherwise stated in our programme we meet at our club pavilion situated in Vivary Park, Taunton. To find out more about our activities see our programme.

In the workshop

Members' modelling interests vary from traction engines, locomotives, boats, stationary steam, clocks and vehicle restoration. Our enthusiasm for building, and in some cases rebuilding, is boundless.

Our railway tracks

The club has a raised railway track in Vivary Park in 3½" and 5" gauge, and alongside is our club pavilion. During the summer months on a Sunday we give rides to the public.

The club's latest project is the building of a superb 7¼" track at Creech St Michael playing fields. The progress of this project is reported in the Oily Rag, and there are pictures on new site.

Our quarterly journal

The Journal of Taunton Model Engineers, The Oily Rag, is published 4 times a year. It is both informative and entertaining and contains information about all our forthcoming events.
